Minutes of General Assembly 5/9/12

Notes recorded by Susan Rice

Previously we agreed to post Report Backs and Announcements on the O-A listserv in order to create more time at the weekly General Assembly. Sometimes it is necessary to give some time to on-going Working Group tasks and actions, but if we can receive the updates on-line, then it expedites our meeting. Perhaps comments about such things could be included in the check-in. (this is an editorial comment from the note taker)

REPORT BACKS:

Justice for Charles: The Saturday event was successful. It was well publicized. There continues to be a weekly event every Friday night supporting Justice for Charles.

Amherst Schools Justice: The meeting last Sunday was well attended. Jean sent a comprehensive list of issues that need to be addressed to the O-A listserv. The nest meeting with the middle school staff/administrators is this coming Monday. Contact Jean (sefsherlock@yahoo.com) if you are planning to attend.

Pride and Parade Event: Saturday, May12th. The parade starts at noon. We are to gather between 11:30 and 12:00 in the parking lot on Hampton Avenue across from the Northampton Brewery. This is a good event to leaflet. There will be places to display literature.

May 26th “Another World is Possible” Event on Amherst Common: O-A is committed to go forward on this. This Expandable Brass Band will participate. Jean Sherlock will do a “Community Building Workshop”. Tasks were divided as follows:

We agreed to view it at the next meeting and have a discussion with the film maker after. The meeting next week, May 16th will begin at 4:30. The film will be shown from 5:30 to 6:30.
