Gary was facilitating and is offering these few reports on a fairly casual meeting. Only six and the seven of us were there with several of the regulars out under the weather or at other meetings or doing something else.
Most of our discussion went to Saturday in the park with Occupy Amherst. Next week when we are back to fuller force we should have an extended discussion/critique and consider how often we might do something similar.
On the positive side, besides general feeling that the day was well spent and energizing and successful we had the following most positives:
The action at the bank was super and lots took part and watched
We had a good time
The presence of the band added a lot
Ben’s music was great
The speakers were excellent and on time
On the less positive side: we didn’t get as many people as we’d like (yet)
We should have had some of the Mike Check
How often should we do it? Paul’s questions made it clear that “some more” would appreciated by all.
As there weren’t enough of us, and we didn’t have Ben’s report back on talking to Irwin, we will have to wait to next week for a decision about removing the Bank of America action from our website or changing it.
Beth asked for someone to coordinate book signing by Medea Benjamin at Food for thought. Gary answered that he could and several agreed to help out. We need Beth to make sure what she needs.
Gary mentioned John Bracey’s beginning his talk at the Sojourner Truth awards on Sunday by asking who there was from Occupy, before getting to how Ms Truth wasn’t a statue but one of our ancestors who like Occupy was interested in community.
